Shuji Honjo, Advisor
 

Shuji Honjo, Managing Director of Honjo International, a business consulting firm in Tokyo, delivers strategies to information & communications technologies and technology-enabled businesses. He also works as Special Advisor to General Atlantic LLC, a major global private equity firm specialized in information technology and related fields. He also teaches entrepreneurship at Saitama University, Graduate School of Economic Science as Visiting Associate Professor. In addition, Mr. Honjo is a Registered Partner of Ichiryu Associates, a government and large corporate consulting firm, and an advisor for a number of large and high-growth companies such as Japan Tobacco Inc., Genos Group, Info Plant Co., Ltd, and Realcom K.K. As an extension of his hands-on advisory work, he was also acting COO for D2E2, Inc., a multilingual, rich content solution provider based in Japan, China, and the US.

Prior to Honjo International, he was Executive Assistant to the Chairman and Group Strategy Manager of CSK/SEGA Group, a leader in IT solutions and digital entertainment in Japan. During his SEGA tenure, he also worked as Director of Marketing at California-based, Segasoft Networks Inc., to pioneer the online gaming business.

He has extensive business consulting experiences with Boston Consulting Group in Tokyo and with Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) in California. At CSC, he was the first Japanese Business Reengineering consultant working with James Champys, the originator of reengineering.

He has presented research work on entrepreneurship and innovation in Japan, Europe, and the US since co-founding Corporate Venture Research Group. Mr. Honjo is an active contributor to major Japanese journals including Diamond and Nikkei, and has authored a number of books including: Management that Creates Growth; Secret of Spontaneous Growth of Cisco Systems; Beyond Japanese Management - Hewlett-Packard; Deceits and Truth of Information Technology; and Rebirth of the Corporation, which he edited for Diamond in 2002.

Mr. Honjo's social contribution includes participation in and advisory to government committees and other public programs such as the Mobile Number Portability Study Committee of Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, and Campus Venture Grand Prix Tokyo.

Mr. Honjo has an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and a B.S. from the University of Tokyo. He is also a doctoral candidate at Waseda University in Tokyo.
